The 2018 Landmarks of Britain Trafalgar Square 1 ounce Silver Coin is the third in a new series of bullion coins celebrating Britain’s architectural icons, The reverse of the coin features the iconic Trafalgar Square, Renowned for its fountains, architect John Nash designed Trafalgar Square as a cultural space, with the National Gallery housed on the north side. Completed in 1843 at a cost of £47,000, Nelson’s Column honours British naval hero Admiral Horatio Nelson who died defeating the French and Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Edwin Landseer’s lions were added later in 1867. Also on the reverse is the coin’s ‘Trafalgar Square’ title, as well as the 2018 year of issue, the coin’s weight and .999 silver purity.

The obverse features a striking profile of Elizabeth II, struck in detail upon a field of unique and geometrically dazzling textural design which far outshines the field on the previous release. Also on the obverse is the coin’s denominational value alongside Elizabeth II’s full regal title.
